Richard Jefferson took to X (formerly Twitter) to clarify his behavior during the Cleveland Cavaliers’ championship celebration back in 2016. As seen in the viral clip, J.R. Smith was pouring a bottle of alcohol on a girl. Jefferson was later seen seemingly looking to rizz up the lady rocking a LeBron James Cavs jersey.
See the former Cavs player turned ESPN analyst’s explanation for his actions.
One user who goes by ThatmanFrenchy wasn’t too sold on Jefferson’s explanation.
Another one who goes by Arlong gave a word-by-word transcript of exactly RJ said to the lady drenched in alcohol.
While we don’t really know the conversation that Jefferson and the girl had, we might just have to take the long-time veteran’s word for it.
The former Arizona Wildcat was already in his age-35 campaign when he played for the Cavaliers and it is likely he was just trying to explain J.R. Smith’s uncanny behavior while on the Henny.
We all know what a drunk Smith looks like and this clip isn’t really shocking. Smith hilariously never put a shirt back on while celebrating the Cavs championship up until the parade that happened in downtown Cleveland.
It isn’t really known if Jefferson was in a relationship or married at that point. But what we do know is that he was one of the elder statesmen of the Cavs during those years.
Jefferson was apparently engaged to Kesha Ni’Cole Nichols in 2009, but the wedding never happened. Apparently, the man broke off his wedding via e-mail a few days prior to the celebration.
