The Cleveland Cavaliers were not able to reach their goal of winning a championship last season, but they’re definitely working to get back to the level they were playing at and make another run. Before they go on that run, Donovan Mitchell had locked it in with the love of his life, Coco Jones. The famous R&B singer posted a picture on Instagram of herself and Mitchell, with an engagement ring on her finger.
The two had kept their relationship private over the years, but there were always hints that they were dating. Now that the engagement is official, the world knows that the two are together, and they’ll be together for till death do them part.
In an article from People magazine, reps from the couple said, “After an amazing season and a sold-out tour, Donovan Mitchell and Coco Jones took a moment to recharge on vacation, which turned it into a beautiful engagement.”
Mitchell and Jones will cherish this moment for the rest of the season, and then the Cavs guard will probably get back to work as he looks to lead the Cavs through the Eastern Conference.
Last season, the Cavs were the No. 1 seed in the East throughout the whole year, and it was their strong play on both sides of the ball that led them to a historic season. Unfortunately, they were not able to bring that strong play into the playoffs, as they were eliminated in the second round by the Indiana Pacers.
The Cavs were able to bring back most of their same squad from last season, and also added Lonzo Ball after trading Issac Okoro to the Chicago Bulls. With the current landscape of the Eastern Conference, it would not be a surprise if the Cavs were back at the top again.
Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland were a dynamic backcourt who could score at will, while Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen held things down in the frontcourt. The bench also has some firepower, and they’ll be able to keep things afloat while the starters are resting.
