Life continues to happen for Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell following his recent engagement to recording artist Coco Jones.
Jones announced the good news on Instagram on Friday by sharing a sweet picture of them together after Mitchell’s sunset proposal at a resort. The post quickly garnered congratulatory messages from athletes and celebrities, including Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown, Chicago Sky star Angel Reese, singer-songwriter Ciara, and rapper Lady London, among others.
The next few months, coinciding with the new NBA season, will be quite busy for Mitchell as he will help his fiancee with wedding preparations. Fans couldn’t help but gush about the next step in their relationship, which reportedly started two years ago.
“Coco Jones has one of the craziest face cards I have ever seen,” posted a fan on X.
It elicited a curt response from the Cavaliers guard: “I swear.”
Give him the MVP trophy already.
The 28-year-old Cavaliers star and the 27-year-old Jones have largely kept their romance under wraps prior to their engagement. In February, the Grammy Award-winning artist noted that she values her privacy amid all the “little spies everywhere.”
“But you know what, I’m happy. I will say my music is the outlet that I use to tell most of my stories and my truth, and some things I keep for myself because this is my life too,” said Jones on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast, as reported by People’s Jack Irvin.
“I don’t want to ever feel like I have to be somebody’s secret. I don’t want to make anybody feel like they’re mine. I think, for me, I’m trying to protect myself and I’m trying to protect my family and whoever I love. So, yeah, I am more private.”
As for Mitchell, it looks like he will be playing even more inspired basketball in the upcoming NBA campaign as the Cavaliers look to bounce back from their painful exit in the playoffs last season.
