There has been plenty of speculation regarding the Cleveland Cavaliers amidst their recent losing spurt. Unfortunately, things have taken a turn for the worse following the Cavs’ embarrassing 148-124 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder at home on Saturday night.
The Cavs have now lost five of their last six games. However, superstar forward LeBron James is not ready to call it quits just yet, according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin:
“I can’t break,” he said. “I’m the last one that can break at this point. I’m the leader of this team. Hopefully we can get some wins, and that definitely helps, but I’m going to stay as positive as I can be. You guys know me, patience is not always been a thing for me, but knowing the rough patch that we’re in right now, that’s what I’m going to give to this team. Just stay positive.”
While it is encouraging to see James attempting to remain so optimistic about the situation, there is little doubt that his patience is being tested now more than ever. Head coach Tyronn Lue has recently come under fire for the Cavs’ struggles. Although James was not exactly adamant about Lue not being part of the problem, there is some speculation as to whether he is part of the solution.
Aside from the team as a whole, James has enjoyed his fair share of struggles from an individual standpoint during the Cavs’ recent skid. James recorded 18 points, seven assists, and three rebounds in the loss to Oklahoma City. That said, if the Cavs are to get back on track anytime soon, they will need their star player to assume his position as the greatest basketball player in the world.
