In honor of his 36th birthday, Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James decided to send his long-time friend and teammate Dwyane Wade a personalized message on Twitter. You can easily tell that these two Cavs stars know each other too well.
As most hoops fans know, “Peanut Butter and Jelly,” as Wade and James are known, have been closely tied since they entered the NBA in 2003. Together, they won a couple of championships with the Miami Heat, and now they’re on that same mission with the Cavs.
Over the years, Wade has served as a calm voice of reason for his teammates, including James. The former Marquette Golden Eagle has a certain way of cooling off a heated situation. In fact, instead of yelling orders in a demeaning manner, he’ll often pull his teammates aside to point out a possible advantage, or even a mistake.
In his 39 games played for the Cavs this season, Wade has turned in averages of 11.1 points, the lowest of his career, on 44.2 percent shooting from the field, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.8 assists in 23.5 minutes, also a career low, per game.
Without a doubt, Wade is on his way to the NBA Hall of Fame — and for good reason. “Flash,” as he’s more commonly known, has a slew of achievements to his credit, including three championships, Olympic gold and bronze medals, 12 All-Star selections, a Finals MVP award, and one scoring title.
Like James, Cavs Nation would like to wish Wade a happy birthday.
