The Cleveland Cavaliers are still one of the few teams that are in the LeBron James sweepstakes, and they have a good pitch to bring him to the team. It would be another homecoming for James as he winds down his career, and what better place to hang up your jersey than where it all started?
On the basketball front, the Cavs were already a top team in the Eastern Conference and adding James could get them over the hump. Though it sounds like a perfect fit, some have questions on how James and James Harden would work on the floor. That shouldn’t be a worry, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer, as James has had interest in playing with Harden before.
“A lot of people in the league keep mentioning that they believe there is a clunky fit between LeBron James and James Harden,” Fischer said on Bleacher Report. “I don’t necessarily see that, because Harden once upon a time was someone that LeBron communicated to the Lakers, when he was a free agent… it was when he was a free agent with the Clippers or Sixers, but there was a point in time when LeBron communicated to the Lakers that he was willing to take a pay cut if they sign Harden, Klay Thompson or Jonas Valanciunas.”
James and Harden are smart players, and their games don’t conflict with each other, even though they both like to control the offense. James showed last season with the Los Angeles Lakers that he can take a step back, and that’s what he’d probably do if he joined the Cavs.
There will have to be sacrifices made throughout the entire team, but that’s the only way that you can win a championship. James knows that, and he’ll have to lead the charge in that conversation.
