After six long years, the Detroit Pistons are back in the NBA playoffs. The last time they played in the postseason was in 2009 wherein they got swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the opening round. It was a bitter closing to a period of Eastern supremacy by the Pistons, but as they try to once again stamp their class in the conference, a familiar foe could be on the deck if things fall into place.
The young Pistons currently hold the number eight seed in the East playoffs and, if round one started today, would be going up against none other than the top seeded Cavaliers.

Detroit currently holds the season series lead against Cleveland, 2-1, with both teams slated to meet again in the final game of the regular season.
The Pistons hold the same win-loss record as the Indiana Pacers at 43-37, but the latter hold the tiebreaker advantage over the former, hence the 8th seed. Here are the remaining games of both teams.

Obviously, both the Pacers and Pistons would want to avoid the Cavaliers in the opening series.
But for things to become more promising in Motown, its boys will have to win both of their final games if Indiana splits their two remaining contests, or if Detroit wins one of their final two games then the Pacers must drop both matches. If Indiana wins their last two games, then it’s going to be the Pistons taking the long trip to Cleveland to open the playoffs.
