Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James is currently considered by many to be the greatest basketball player on Earth. Few can question James’ greatness on the court, but some fans of the three-time champion wonder what other sports he might be able to dominate.
On Wednesday, Keith Britton of CBS Cleveland asked Columbus Blue Jackets head coach, John Tortorella, if he thinks James would excel at hockey as he does in hoops. Tortorella’s response seemed a bit harsh, but it appears he was having a little fun with the question.
“Not a chance,” Tortorella said. “He can’t skate. He’s too damn big, he can’t skate. And you can tell him I said that. I challenge him. Tell him to get his ass out here and come on the ice with us. I want to see him skate.”
In James’ defense, there are several professional hockey players who are of similar stature, including Boston Bruins enforcer, Zdeno Chara, who stands at 6’9″ and weighs in at 256 pounds. So, to say that James can’t skate because he’s “just too damn big” doesn’t make much sense.
