Most NBA teams would love to have LeBron James at the end of this year’s offseason. But the latest rumor reveals that he is only considering moving to the Los Angeles Lakers or staying with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Speaking on The Jump, analyst Brian Windhorst feels that James’ wife and kids are comfortable in staying in Cleveland or moving to L.A. For him, James will be prioritizing his family:
Windhorst’s opinion is backed up by James’ previous comments on the matter. Right after getting swept by the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals, James was immediately asked for his plans in the offseason.
He said that his decision in 2014 to return to Cleveland was brought about by unfinished business. Now, four years later, his decision will be motivated by the choice of his family. Per Dave McMenamin of ESPN:
“I came back because I felt like I had some unfinished business,” James said of his 2014 decision, which he characterized as the easier of the two major changes he made.
But now, things are different:
“Understanding especially where my boys are at this point in their age. They were a lot younger the last time I made a decision like this four years ago. I’ve got a teenage boy, a preteen and a little girl that wasn’t around as well. So sitting down and considering everything, my family is a huge part of whatever I’ll decide to do in my career, and it will continue to be that. So I don’t have an answer for you right now as far as that.”
