The Cleveland Cavaliers have been caught in a whirlwind of rumors surrounding Kyrie Irving‘s trade request.
According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, LeBron James isn’t helping the team look into possible trade scenarios to move the three-time All-Star.
This comes in the wake of Irving reportedly not responding to the calls from the Cavaliers, creating further separation between himself and the organization. It also created chatter that James had asked his former teammate James Jones, who is now in the front office of the Phoenix Suns, if rookie forward Josh Jackson was available in a possible trade.
Regardless if James is getting involved or not, there is now a large cloud over the organization surrounding Irving’s future with the team. The 25-year-old is eyeing a move from the Cavaliers that could come at any point this offseason despite owner Dan Gilbert stating that he expects him to be in uniform when the season starts.
This also shows that James is committed to the organization which was echoed by new general manager Koby Altman on Wednesday afternoon during his introductory press conference. There may be the possibility of him leaving next summer, but it is an encouraging sign the 32-year-old has remained in constant contact with the organization throughout this entire ordeal.
