The road back to the NBA Finals was not an easy journey for the Cleveland Cavaliers, as they had to overcome stiff challenges put up by the Indiana Pacers, the Toronto Raptors, and the Boston Celtics before earning yet another finals date with the Golden State Warriors.

But for Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue, the difficulties he had to deal with goes beyond the basketball court. Back in March, Lue took a lengthy leave of absence that stretched for nine games because of problems with sleeping, which were traced to anxiety.

That much is now known about Lue’s battle with anxiety after revealing his condition in an exclusive interview with Rachel Nichols of ESPN.

Lue, however, admitted that he did not intend to make his anxiety issue public, per Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com.

“To be honest, I messed up,” Lue said before Game 1. “I didn’t even really know I said it. It just kind of came out during the interview. But a lot of people are going through a lot of different things.

With Lue back in the Cavs’ bench, his focus is on figuring out a way for his team to get over the hump that is Golden State, which is the heavy favorite to win it all this year.
