Cleveland Cavaliers stud Jordan Clarkson was one of the first players to react to the ruckus that went down in the hotly-contested matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Houston Rockets on Saturday. As expected, the Cavs guard has come to the defense of his former Lakers teammate Brandon Ingram.

Clarkson’s tweet is kind of cryptic. It says nothing about the events that transpired, and is nothing more than a message — a very supportive one at that — sharing his love for Ingram.

Ingram is widely regarded as being the instigator of the events that transpired on the evening. While he did not throw the first punch, he is seen rushing towards Rockets guard Chris Paul to swing a punch of his own towards the veteran.

Ingram is likely going to face suspension and a hefty fine, and perhaps this is Clarkson’s way of comforting his basketball brother.

For his part, Clarkson has stayed violence-free to start the new campaign. While his Cavs may have been off to a poor start going 0-2 in their first two games, Clarkson has been a stud off the Cleveland bench. In two contests, the 6-foot-5 combo guard is averaging a very impressive 17.0 points on 51.7% shooting, 0.5 three-pointers, 3.5 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.5 steals, 0.5 blocks, and 1.5 turnovers in 23.5 minutes per game.

The sample size is extremely small, and Clarkson is definitely not going to be able to sustain his efficiency from the field, but it is looking like a very promising season for the fourth year man.
