In what will be the first game of a five-game road trip, the Cleveland Cavaliers will head to Boston on Wednesday night for a match-up against the Celtics inside TD Garden. The Celtics organization had planned on showing a tribute video for Isaiah Thomas, who led the team to a no. 1 seed in last season’s Eastern Conference Playoffs, but the newly-acquired Cavs point guard has since requested that the tribute not be shown.
Local Boston reporter Jimmy Murphy was apparently put off by Thomas’ request to the Celtics, as you can see from his hot take on Twitter.
Thomas, who won’t be playing in Wednesday night’s game due to back-to-back restrictions, saw Murphy’s tweet and decided to respond.
Get over myself huh? Because I would like to actually PLAY & have my family in the arena to appreciate the LOVE the city/organization will show US? It ain’t about me it’s about my family… Ha you get over yourself you dumbass https://t.co/LiqeXUVTwD

According to several reports, the Celtics would still like to honor Thomas at some point in the future. The Cavs will be back in Beantown on February 11th. That night, however, the C’s plan on retiring Paul Pierce’s jersey. Maybe the tribute plays — maybe it doesn’t. Let’s just wait and see.
