The Cleveland Cavaliers notched an insane NBA In-Season Tournament win over the Atlanta Hawks. Donovan Mitchell torched the Trae Young-led squad and kept his fire throughout the whole four quarters. But, their record of three wins and one loss will not be enough to propel them to the next round. The Cavs star was still optimistic despite this, via Bally Sports Cleveland.
“I love it. I think the intensity is just kind of like an elimination game type of atmosphere that you’re doing on a night in November. Games like these prep us for the ultimate goal” was how Donovan Mitchell described playing in the NBA In-Season Tournament.
He once again came out hot for the Cavs. Mitchell notched 40 points along with dropping 11 dimes on 35 minutes of playing time. This completely eclipsed Trae Young. The Hawks star looked lost on scoring but still managed to give their team 13 points and 10 assists for a double-double.
Mitchell and the Cavs had to win big but the Indiana Pacers had another win in their belt to secure the slot. Regardless, the star opts to use this as a stepping stone for further success, “Unfortunately, we did not get to go to Vegas but, at the end of the day, we can still find a way to compete and win these high-intensity games. It’s been great, the crowd’s been great, and the teams’ energies have been great on both sides.”
Will the Cavs continue their new-found groove and carry it all the way to the top of the Eastern Conference?
