The Cleveland Cavaliers have yet to eliminate the Boston Celtics, but some of their fans have already concluded that they’ll once again make it to the NBA Finals and compete for the championship against the Golden State Warriors.
However, Dick’s Sporting Goods took that conclusion to a higher level as alerts have been sent to the people who have downloaded their app, enticing them to purchase Cavaliers-branded gear with the label “2017 Eastern Conference Champions” on them.
The shirts, caps, and other products with the same label can also be found online and are now available to be purchased, as pointed out by Ben Rohrbach of Yahoo! Sports.
This definitely shows utmost confidence on the Cavs advancing to the next round by defeating the top-seeded team in the Eastern Conference. But there’s also a risk involved with their move, as the Celtics may have other things in mind that could make them lose a lot of money.
If they can complete an improbable comeback victory in the series, these merchandise will have no use and will not sell anymore. It’s a long shot, but still possible. Just ask the Cavaliers, who came back from a 3-1 deficit in last year’s NBA Finals.
