Even in the face of defeat, LeBron James found a way to compliment the Golden State Warriors for building a great team.
Last night, the Warriors defeated the Cavaliers in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, 129-120, resulting in their second title in three seasons. During his post-game media availability, James, who became the first player in NBA history to average a triple-double in the Finals, said the Warriors did a great job of recruiting.
“We left everything on the floor and it still wasn’t enough,” James said. “They assembled a great team. You know, we were able to get them last year and they went out and got one of the best payers this league has ever seen. They did a great job — their front office and players — by doing that recruiting and the things they did in the summertime. Obviously, it paid dividends.”
Despite their defeat, James and the Cavs have nothing to hang their heads over. Now, with a bit of time off, the King says he’ll be hitting the gym to stay in shape.
“I probably won’t stop working out,” James said. “It’s a lifestyle for me, so I’ll probably be back in my gym in a couple of days just because that’s who I am. As far as being back on the basketball court, I’m going to take a while. I don’t need to be back on the basketball court right now. I need to get off of my feet and let my joints and let my body recover from being out on the floor for 14 straight years. But I’ll train — I’ll train all summer. It’s just a part of who I am now.”
