Recently, on an episode of Road Trippin’ with Channing Frye and Richard Jefferson, Kyrie Irving, Cleveland Cavaliers star point guard, made a statement that has gained a lot of attention.

Irving, who is sometimes cryptic in delivering messages, claimed that the Earth is flat. As a result, all forms of media, both social and press, want to know if the crafty ball-handler truly believes it. After his second interview earlier today, Irving told the media that he was trying to make a point and that he wasn’t planning on expanding on his views.

During today’s NBA All-Star media availability, LeBron James was asked about Irving’s statement. The King pressed the pause button on the interview to defend his “little brother,” as he calls Irving.

“Kyrie!,” James said as he looked over at Irving with a smile. “Earth is flat, right?”

“Yea!,” Irving replied confidently.

To be clear, it seems Irving is using this story to point out how most people pay more attention to topics like this, rather than important world issues. Flat Earth theory or not, it’s safe to say that Irving will forever be remembered as one of the greatest Cavaliers to wear the Wine and Gold.
