Motivated by the goal of winning an NBA championship last season, the Cleveland Cavaliers created a physical representation of this objective with a 16-piece puzzle in the shape of the Larry O’Brien trophy. The puzzle was 16 pieces because that is the total number of wins a team needs in order to win the championship. After each playoff win, the Cavs filled in the puzzle until it was completed after their Game 7 victory over the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals.
Wanting to win another championship this season, the Cavs have brought back the Finals trophy puzzle, already filling in three pieces for their 3-0 lead over the Indiana Pacers in the first-round.
This may seem like a silly motivational tactic but if it worked for the Cavs last year, it could likely work again this season.
