LeBron James had a prime opportunity to put the Cleveland Cavaliers ahead in one of the last possessions of Monday night’s Eastern Conference showdown against the Washington Wizards.

James had a bunny ahead of him with only John Wall in his way to the cup — in an attempt to sidestep him, he faked right, went left, and tip-toed ahead before blowing a left-handed layup that careened off the rim to the Wizards’ surprise.

“The extra step that I took, which was a travel, threw me off of my rhythm,” James said according to Chase Hughes of CSN Mid-Atlantic. “It was a point-blank layup and I missed it.”

The Finals MVP would get his redemption seconds later, after a signature outlet pass by Kevin Love which found James by the right wing. He launched a turnaround three-pointer, fading out of bounds and kissing off the glass and in with three tenths of a second left in regulation, sending the game to overtime.

“I was blessed to be in a position where I could make up for it,” said James. “Kev [Love] game me a great pass, a play that we work on in practice.”

The King would foul out only 47 seconds into the overtime period, but his sidekick Kyrie Irving put on the cape, scoring 11 points of his 23 points in the extra period to lift the Cavs to a 140-135 win over the Wizards.
