As we approach the fateful Cavs vs. Warriors rematch on January 16th, plenty of people involved in NBA culture have certainly chimed in on the building rivalry these two teams harbor. It’s hard not to acknowledge these teams as bitter foes considering how they have had to share the NBA Championship title these past two seasons. But with the Cavs holding the edge on the Warriors in their most recent outings, even players on the Warriors team felt the need to comment on the Cavs celebratory antics over Golden State last year.
In a recent A to Z Podcast with Sam Amick and Jeff Zillgitt of the USA Today, Klay Thompson opened up about his feelings regarding the Cavs’ Halloween party favors, some of which mocked the Warriors after blowing a 3-1 lead. Thompson shares similar sentiments with Shaun Livingston, essentially saying the “childish” actions will motivate the Warriors.
“It’s obviously not respectful, so it’s got to be on the other side of the spectrum, so that’s fine with us,” Thompson remarked. “They can do that childish stuff. It doesn’t matter to us. All we’ve got to do is handle it on the court, you know?”
If Thompson wants his words to mean anything, he better ensure he and his team take down the Cavs on Martin Luther King Jr day.
