With just over one month remaining until the start of the 2017-18 NBA season, the Cleveland Cavaliers have released a sneak-peek image of their new floor design.
The paint scheme, which was designed by the Cavaliers’ graphics team and constructed by Cincinnati Floor Company, will feature the team’s new shield logo at half court. According to an official press release from the team, the shield is meant to represent the Cavaliers’ commitment to their slogan, “Defend The Land.”
The Cavs’ altered court design will go hand-in-hand with their new jerseys from Nike. The new threads, which are to be sponsored by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., should match the colors on the floor quite well.
New features of the floor include: a light stain throughout the entire court, a bold black perimeter (to honor the Cavs’ sleeved jerseys from their 2016 championship run), “The Shield,” a shaded silhouette of the Cleveland skyline, and new font for the lettering.
Wine & Gold United members will have their names included in the lettering of the Cavs’ battle cry, “All for One. One for All,” which will be positioned on the Western sideline.
When will Cavs fans be able to peep this new floor, though? Well, not long, according to the team.
“Fans will get the first look at the refreshed playing surface at the Eastern Conference Champion’s annual intra-squad Wine & Gold Scrimmage in very early October (date and time to be announced soon).”
