The feud between Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green and Cleveland Cavs Tristan Thompson is one of the most intriguing ongoing storylines from the NBA offseason. Reports surfaced of an altercation between the two at LeBron James’ party following the ESPYs. The rumor is that Thompson punched Green in the face during the ultra-exclusive gathering.
Although Green has disputed this claim, he’s done so with some ambiguity. He hasn’t completely denied that the altercation took place.
Pablo Torre discussed what he’s heard of the situation with Bomani Jones on ESPN, per Dan Feldman of NBC Sports.
“What I have learned, talking to people that I trust in these circumstances, is that Draymond was teasing Tristan Thompson at multiple locations that night. It turns out there was a party at Highlight Room that LeBron was having. Tristan and Draymond were there. Draymond may or may not have been saying things along the lines of Khloe Kardashian jokes, jokes about how now that LeBron has left Tristan that his career is on the outs. And then there was the second location, Bomani, Delilah in Hollywood. And it seems to be another LeBron-type event. And this is where the face-mushing happens. And I would clarify that there were exchanges, I was told – exchanges verbal and physical. It wasn’t a one-sided thing.”
If this is true, then it sounds like Green did what he does best. He provoked Thompson into retaliating against him. Whether he was teasing Thompson about Khloe Kardashian, LeBron James, or pretty much anything else, Green likely got the reaction he wanted.
Initial reports stated that Green was attempting to apologize to Thompson. The latest rumor throws a curveball into the equation.
