Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James’ popularity transcends beyond the basketball court, as he has been one of the most influential figures in all of sports. The causes he supports and awareness he promotes have been successful, by reaching millions of his fans around the world. However, the Cavs forward also has a lot of haters, who think he is not the best basketball player in the world today, and some, even finding fault in all that James does.
While many of them have been vocal on their social media accounts, not a lot has given their criticism of him on live T.V., especially when it comes to his activities off the court. After watching him and Kevin Durant appear on the latest episode of Uninterrupted x Uber series, Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham went off at the Cleveland Cavaliers star forward by asking him to just “shut up and dribble.”
She made arguments on why he, as well as Kevin Durant, should not give his opinion about politics publicly, especially being someone who left high school a year early to join the NBA and get paid “$100 million a year to bounce a ball.”
Ingraham is a veteran radio talk show host who has never been shy to speak her mind, whether her comments may be controversial or not. It will be very interesting to see what James, Durant or other members of the NBA community will have to say to her in the coming days if they feel having the need to do so.
Players these days have used their stature and basketball as a platform to promote positive change and at times, also speak about their political allegiances in the past. While Ingraham is also free to give her opinion, it’s still a surprising development, as her commentary was delivered live and she did not hold back at all.
