The Cleveland Cavaliers will wrap up a four-game homestand on Saturday night with a matchup against the Utah Jazz, but they might be doing so without the services of Tristan Thompson.
Thompson, now 26 years of age, has been dealing with a calf injury since Nov. 1. Initial reports indicated that he would be out of the Cavs’ lineup for roughly one month. He did play for six minutes in Cleveland’s 123-114 win over the Atlanta Hawks earlier this week, but was held out of Thursday night’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers for precautionary measures.
Thompson was a participant in Saturday morning’s shootaround, but his status is still a bit foggy. If the 6-10 rebounding machine is able to play against the Jazz, Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue will likely keep him on a minutes restriction.
Rotoworld notes that Thompson is “expected to play” in Saturday’s game against the Jazz.
In his nine games played for the Cavs this season, Thompson has turned in averages of 3.9 points on 57.7 percent shooting from the field and 5.7 rebounds.
Saturday night’s Cavs-Jazz game is scheduled to tip at 7:30 p.m. inside Quicken Loans Arena. Fox Sports Ohio will have live broadcast coverage. Let’s see if Thompson is given any playing time.
