While some have speculated that the Cleveland Cavs are adjusting their roster for LeBron James, ESPN’s Stephen A Smith believes there’s no better option for the future Hall of Fame forward. As James continues to think about which team he’ll be playing for in 2026-27, the Cavs, alongside the Miami Heat, and the Philadelphia 76ers, have the best odds of landing him. Even the Cleveland Guardians’ All-Stars want LeBron back in The Land.
Smith believes the Cavs should be the only choice for James, he said, per The Stephen A Smith Show.
“Cleveland is the better choice for LeBron James. There’s no downside,” Smith said. “LeBron is so deified and so beloved in the city of Cleveland and the state of Ohio, he can do no wrong. They’re already going to hang a statue of him. LeBron has been so great to that part of the country, they should actually have a ceremony erecting a statue for him before he has to go in that arena and play — that’s how great he has been.”
“There is nothing he can’t get a way with in Cleveland. The coach will work for him. The executive will work for him. The owner will work for him. The players will work for him. You talk about ownership? He’d have it.”
For Stephen A Smith, LeBron James leading the Cavs to their only championship in 2016, is enough for the entire organization to welcome him with open arms.
“That man brought a championship. There’s nothing to talk about,” Smith added. “Everybody sitting there talking about ‘Well, how’s he going to fit in with James Harden?’ How’s James Harden going to fit in with him? If he’s smart, by doing whatever the h** LeBron James wants him to do.”
LeBron’s Next Move Is OBVIOUS!

While the Cavs appear to be one of LeBron James’ top choices, anything can happen between now, and when he ultimately agrees to a new contract ahead of the 2026-27 season.
