The Cleveland Cavaliers failed to reach the NBA Finals after getting swept by the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals, ending what had been a promising season.

The last time the Cavaliers won the Larry O’Brien Trophy was in 2016, beating the Golden State Warriors in an iconic seven-game series after climbing back from a 3-1 deficit.

A member of that squad was Matthew Dellavedova, who played a key role as a hard-nosed defender. On Monday, he was reunited with Anderson Varejao at Rocket Arena in Game 4 against the Knicks, as shown in the post of the Associated Press’ Tom Withers.

“Andy got Delly a pregame coffee. Believe he just arrived earlier from Australia with his son,” wrote Withers on X.

Dellavedova is currently with the Sydney Kings, while Varejao serves as the player development consultant and global ambassador of the Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers gave Varejao a ring in 2016, even though he was already with the Warriors during the playoffs. He played 31 games for Cleveland at the beginning of the season.

Many were happy to see Dellavedova and Varejao—a pair of fan favorites—together again in a familiar place.

“We could use both of these guys’ hearts and hustle,” said @TheReal_Cuz.

“Wish we would have had Delly to guard (Jalen) Brunson in Game 1,” added @mattpie0011.

“Two of my all-time favorites,” exclaimed @longcool63.

“He’s coming off an NBL championship too. Shoutout, Delly,” noted @DRajakovic_muse.

“I doubt Delly would have ever turned in an effort as lackadaisical as that first half in a preseason game, let alone an ECF,” commented @securitron_eth.

Unfortunately, even the presence of Dellavedova and Varejao did not provide any good luck for the Cavaliers, who lost by 37 points to the Knicks.

JR Smith recently shared that a trip is being planned to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Cleveland’s championship in 2016.
