Stat nerds might puke rainbows because of this one. The dedicated hoop fans on Reddit have once again delivered a fascinating trivia. This time, it involves Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James and his “membership” on a certain odd club.

User Ih8reposts shared the interesting discovery on the NBA subreddit Wednesday night:

“This is pretty interesting to me based on my knowledge of how numbers work, unless I am just missing something here. You would think that among the guys listed there would be at least one game where they post their career averages… right?

But who knows, I may be wrong, I may be crazy, but I just might be the lunatic….. nevermind. Back to the numbers:

LeBrons Career Avg: 27/7/7; Actual 27/7/7 Games: 0

KD’s Career Avg: 27/7/3; Actual 27/7/3 Games: 0

Kobe’s Career Avg: 25/5/4; Actual 25/5/4 Games: 0

Shaq’s Career Avg: 23/10/2; Actual 23/10/2 Games: 0

MJ’s Career Avg: 30/6/5; Actual 30/6/5 Games: 0”

How crazy is it that the guy who’s known to bring in numbers after numbers has not tallied a stat line that’s identical to his career average? The 27-7-7 stat line has been done 34 times in the history of the NBA — 10 of which came in the last five years.

Adding to the craziness is that James has played in over 1,000 NBA games, and has tallied a 26-6-6,  28-8-8, and even a 30-10-10 points-rebounds-assists line at some point.

Of course, considering the current state of the Cavs, this is on the very bottom of James’ priorities. The Cavs are the 29th in Basketball-Reference.com’s defensive ratings and have only gone 5-11 since Christmas. The seemingly unshakable slump even puts them in danger of falling out of the top 4 spot in the Eastern Conference standings.
