LeBron James is not a closet fan of the Cleveland Browns. He takes things seriously.
For that reason, it makes complete sense that he would be very upset that the Browns ended their NFL season without a single win. The Browns finished 0-16 and a combined 1-31 in the previous two years.
Browns fans recently took the streets for a sarcastic parade celebrating Cleveland’s 0-16 season. One fan even carried a sign asking James to join the Browns as their new quarterback.
James had no issue with what the fans did, instead putting the onus on the franchise itself for being so bad, per Jason Lloyd of The Athletic.
“F— yeah, I’d be pissed,” James told The Athletic’s Jason Lloyd. “But how are you going to be pissed at the fans? It’s not like they don’t show up. I mean, damn. It’s 1-31. If our fans decided they want to have a fucking parade and we were 1-31 the last two years? You can’t be mad at that. It’s f—ed up. I understand that as a player, but you’ve got to try to fix that s—. It could be worse. How ’bout they just boycott a season until y’all win two games in a row?”
When you think about it, losing 31 games over two years is downright awful for a football team. And because James is a Cleveland native and lives there as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, he hears all the talk about how bad the Browns are and have been.
It’s surprising that James wasn’t out there with the fans for their parade. Maybe the Cavs had a game that day, though.
