With all the greatness he’s shown throughout his NBA career, LeBron James has been widely considered as one of the best, if not the best basketball player in the world. Despite already being 33 years old now, he’s still not showing signs of slowing down anytime soon and continues to play at a very high level. His passion and will to win has also rubbed off to his teammates, including those who are new to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
That includes Larry Nance Jr., who only landed with the Cavs last week, but already experienced what makes James a great player. The former Los Angeles Lakers forward recently shared how he has been receiving instructions from him during games, and made it known that for him, The King is indeed the best player of this era, via Dave McMenamin of ESPN.
“It’s hard to miss a defensive coverage when you’ve got somebody behind you yelling it for you,” Nance said. “He sees everything on the court, offensively and defensively. Offensively he can tell where to go, no matter what position. So he’s been integral to my joining the team, but he’s not probably the best player of this era. He is.”
The Akron native and former Wyoming star landed with the Northeast Ohio team as part of the deal that sent Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye and a first round pick to the Lakers in exchange for him and Jordan Clarkson. The two have since proven that they can co-exist immediately with their new teammates, and have helped make it possible for the team to extend their current winning streak that stands at four games.
Now that he is playing alongside James, it will be interesting to see how it will make Nance an even better player. There is no doubt that he is very talented, but having someone like the four-time MVP and three-time NBA Champion around could do wonders to his game and take it to the next level.
