Two of the four new faces in the Cleveland Cavaliers locker room, Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr., have had the pleasure of playing alongside two of the greatest players of this generation — Kobe Bryant, who they played with while part of the Los Angeles Lakers, and now LeBron James.
With Clarkson playing a guard role that relates to Bryant and James’ scoring ways, he was asked what he had picked up from the latter. Reddit user Mimi108 shared the clip on the NBA subreddit:
REPORTER: What have you learned about LeBron James since you started playing with him that you might not have known playing against him?
CLARKSON: That he cool. He’d be talking with everybody. He’s open. That’s definitely cool to have, a superstar that’s [also] playing the leader of the team.
Communication with his teammates is something that’s never lost in James, especially when on the floor. Nance Jr. has also recently praised the future Hall-Of-Famer for having a great court vision.
It will be very interesting to see how Clarkson will progress with the Cavaliers in the coming months. He’s still in the early stages of his tenure with the team, so they could still be feeling each other out. In six games with the Cavs, the 25-year-old is chipping in 14.2 points per game on 52.3 percent shooting in just 21.3 minutes of action.
As someone who can create offense inside and out and also be a quick source of points, Clarkson’s impending postseason debut is also exciting to watch out for. His aggressive style appears to be perfect against a playoff-level defense.
