The rumors of a potential bolt by LeBron James this summer have run as deep as into NBA locker rooms, as former Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Jordan Clarkson claims his former teammates were all about the buzz of No. 23 coming to the City of Angels.
Now an integral part of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ bench unit, Clarkson spilled the beans on the locker room chatter between him and his former teammates.
“I wouldn’t say like management and the coaches or nobody, but in the locker room people talk when they see what’s going on,” Clarkson said, after the Cavs beat the Denver Nuggets 113-108, according to Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com. “That’s probably the only thing, people talk in the locker room.”
The rumors have been floating the mill for nearly a year now, as the Lakers devoted all of their resources for this summer 2018 campaign, even shedding plenty of salary commitments through the trade deadline — one that Clarkson was a part of.
While this type of chatter wouldn’t normally take place in a veteran locker room, the Lakers are really young — and in a way, easily distracted by the hearsay during a season where not much is expected of them.
The Cavs have expectations to fulfill this season, and while they’ve fallen short, thanks to the myriad of variables through the year — they’re still expected to finish the regular season strong and go into the playoffs in full stride.
The postseason is indeed the major X-factor into what James’ decision will be come summertime.
