David Griffin’s contract as the Cleveland Cavaliers General Manager was not renewed last summer, but he still remains an active viewer and commenter on NBA TV and Twitter since then.
After LeBron James helped lift the team to a Game 6 victory, every basketball fan who isn’t a LeBron hater celebrated his incredible night as well as the game-winning shot was spectacular. The former Cavs GM in Griffin, however, took note of James’ incredible 15-of-15 shooting from the free throw line.
Free throw shooting has never been one of James’ best traits, as he’s a career 73.9 percent free throw shooter, so it was great to see him so locked in from the free throw line. Griffin said he had to have a constancy of mental focus to be able to stay perfect on the line while shooting such a high percentage.
He was shooting 32/42 from the line before Game 5, and he is only shooting 73.1 percent from the line so far this year. It is a good sign for the Cavaliers if James is getting locked in as they head into Game 6 on Friday night at Bankers Life Field House in Indianapolis.
The Cavaliers are currently 1.5 point underdogs to the Indiana Pacers and if they want any chance to win the game they need LeBron James to have the “feel for the moment” like he did in Game 5.
If he can get to the line early and knock down some early free throws that could really help get James locked in for the rest of the game.
