There was a possibility that the Cleveland Cavaliers won’t be the only winning team the city of Cleveland could be rooting for in 2023; with Deshaun Watson, Amari Cooper, and Nick Chubb around to lead the Cleveland Browns, there was a chance for the Browns to improve upon their 7-10 record last season. Alas, the Browns’ hopes of mounting a strong 2023 season were dashed in a huge way on Monday night after they lost star running back Nick Chubb to what appears to be a significant, season-ending knee injury.
Many prominent personalities have already expressed their heartbreak over Chubb’s unfortunate injury, with the likes of LeBron James and Lamar Jackson already wishing the Browns running back the best in his road to recovery. Adding to the list of those who have sent out their thoughts and prayers for the injured RB are Cavs stars Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland.
Posting on their official Twitter (X) account, the members of the Cavs backcourt expressed their concern towards the Browns star.
“Praying for you bro 🙏🏾🙏🏾 💯💯 @NickChubb,” Mitchell wrote. Garland added, “Chubb🙏🏽”.
The entire city of Cleveland seems to be in mourning, and these Cavs are no different. It’s always a painful sight to see fellow athletes lose a season of their careers to untimely knocks. Alas, these things are part of the game, and sometimes, athletes do not have control over these unfortunate circumstances.
The hope now is that Nick Chubb manages to avoid any setbacks as he attempts to return to full strength for the Browns next season. Meanwhile, the focus now for the Cavs will be to enter the 2023-24 season with no major injuries to their main stars, such as Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland.
