A tweet sent out by one of the newest members of the Cleveland Browns is garnering loads of attention. Damarious Randall, who the Browns acquired from the Green Bay Packers in March, had a unique proposition for his followers on social media. Randall promised to buy everyone who retweeted his post a jersey if the Cleveland Cavaliers defeat the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals.
Randall’s tweet picked up steam fast, going from 30 thousand retweets to well over 100k in mere hours. Now, two days later, the tweet has registered a whopping 726,000 retweets (and counting) — the most by any NFL player ever.
According to Tim Daniels of Bleacher Report, Randall’s tweet flew past Detroit Lions punter Sam Martin’s tweet about buying dog food for Hurricane Harvey victims. For the record, Martin’s tweet has 613,371 retweets as of today.
Will Randall honor his end of the deal if the Cavs win it all? Though it would be extremely pricey, it sounds like he is standing firm.
On average, an NBA jersey retails for roughly $110. If the Cavs win it all and Randall has to pay up, he’d be shelling out over $77 million.
As it turns out, Randall is actually a Warriors fan. In fact, he sent out a far different tweet during the Cavs’ Game 7 matchup against the Boston Celtics on Sunday.
Randall, a native of Pensacola, Florida, took quite a bit of heat from Cavs fans for this earlier post. However, he did note that LeBron James should be this season’s MVP. And according to a report from ESPN, Randall would have pulled for the Cavs had the Houston Rockets advanced from the Western Conference.
Randall says he’ll be in attendance for Games 3 and 4 of the Finals, which are to be held inside Quicken Loans Arena.
Game 1 of the NBA Finals is set to tip inside Oracle Arena at 9:00 p.m. EST with ABC having live broadcast coverage. Let’s see if Randall’s wallet takes a hit or not.
