Depending on which generation you ask or which barbershop you are to get a trim, the greatest player of all time is a tossup between Michael Jordan and LeBron James. Jordan surely remains as the consensus GOAT pick, but there is not a shortage of LeBron backers in that argument either. Among those who think that James is the best ever to play hoops is Philadelphia 76ers head coach Brett Brown.
Prior to Friday night’s marquee matchup between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Philly, Brown said that for him, the No. 1 player in basketball history is wearing a Cavs uniform right now.
Brett Brown’s comment came at the same time when LeBron James is having a monster season. James is averaging close to a triple-double this 2017-18 campaign with 27.5 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 9.2 assists per game. The Cavs superstar has been even better of late, putting up 30.1 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 10.2 assists in his last 10 outings.
Brown’s opinion, however, is not going to put an end to the Jordan vs. LeBron debate, though he never said it to serve that purpose. Instead, Brown probably just poured more gasoline into the house on fire that is the GOAT argument.
For now, Brown’s focus is on defeating the Cavs to get the upper hand in the race to the third spot in the Eastern Conference standings. The Cavs began Friday with just half a game advantage over the Sixers, who are also looking to extend their win streak to 13 games. Cleveland is also on a win streak, having won its past five outings.
