The Cleveland Cavaliers led by 11 points at multiple points last night against the Chicago Bulls. But the Cavs dug themselves a hole early in the fourth quarter with a lineup that simply didn’t work. The Bulls outscored the Cavs 18-2 in the first six minutes of the fourth quarter, and a three point lead quickly turned into an 11 point deficit late in the fourth.
Still, the Cavs were able to mount a comeback and get within two points and have a chance to go for the win when Matthew Dellavedova missed a potential game winner.
The Cavs had another chance to tie the game on a last second three-point attempt, which fell short. However, the shooter J.R. Smith was hit on the palm as the shot was released, which was supposed to be a foul. Nothing was called and the Bulls went on to survive for another game.
Stu Jackson, who used to work with the NBA’s officials about these types of calls, took to Twitter to voice his disagreement with the final call of the game.
End of game @TheRealJRSmith was contacted on his follow through on a potential game tying 3pt. Non Call Incorrect #cavs
