As the Cavaliers faced the Grizzlies in back-to-back games, Memphis coach David Fizdale stated LeBron James wouldn’t make a good head coach because of the standards he holds himself to. Fizdale thought it would make it impossible for James to coach, as his pursuit of perfection would not allow him the necessary patience when coaching a team of players that would be inferior to what he was.
James and Fizdale have a great relationship with mutual respect and history together. They reached four straight NBA finals and celebrated two championships together with the Heat, so it was easy to speak their mind on what each other thought about the potential scenario.

When James heard the news, he surprisingly and comfortably agreed with what Fizdale said, via Dave McMenamin of ESPN.
“He’s a little right,” he said when he was told about Fizdale’s comments. “I don’t have, my patience is not—you’ve got to be very patient as a coach. I don’t think I have that much patience. Not that much.”
Fizdale went on to say James has the best basketball mind he’s ever seen, and that he is one of the greatest players to play the game. He also stated his gratitude to James, who aided his journey to eventually becoming an NBA head coach with the Grizzlies.
There is no doubt James will stay in basketball once he’s finished playing, he may not be a head coach, but owning a team could very much be in his future plans.
