After more than 600 days without a win, the Cleveland Browns managed to top the New York Jets on Thursday night, bringing their record to 1-1-1. Fans in the city, including Cavs shooting guard J.R. Smith, were hyped for the win, and not just because they got free beer from Bud Light.
Smith was in attendance at First Energy Stadium on Thursday night to witness the Brownsā come-from-behind victory. Swish posted some videos to social media throughout the game, vowing to take his shirt off if Cleveland won the game. And since the Browns did win, the 33-year-old stayed true to his word.
Shortly after Thursday nightās game, Smith ā still shirtless and hyped about the Brownsā win ā posted another video.
āYaāll better come out in these streets tonight, because Iām going,ā Smith said in his video message after Thursday nightās Browns game. āSeason donāt start until Monday ā Iām going. Come on!ā
Smith is right. The Cavsā season does start on Monday, when the team will hold their annual media day. The following Sunday (Sept. 30), the Cavs will play their annual Wine and Gold Scrimmage game, which will be played at a new location: Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The previous four installments of the Wine and Gold Scrimmage were played inside Quicken Loans Arena.
According to a report from Max Filby of Dayton Daily News, the Cavs will play their Wine and Gold Scrimmage game on a portable court inside a C-17 hangar.
āWe are very excited to host the Cavs and show them how Wright-Patt directly enhances the warfighting capability and lethality of our Airmen in the field,ā Col. Tom Sherman, 88th Air Base Wing and installation commander said in a prepared statement. āIt is also a great treat for our Airmen to get to meet some of the players and watch them play in one of our hangars. It certainly isnāt something you see every day.ā
The Wine and Gold Scrimmage will not be open to the general public, according to the Dayton Daily News. However, all active duty, guard and reserve Airmen will be able to attend.
