All teams are already making the finishing touches on their opening night roster. As for the Cleveland Cavaliers, they are reportedly keeping their two remaining roster spots open while they explore the market.
According to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, the Cavs are keeping a close eye on the last-minute cuts before the regular season begins. They recently opened up two roster spots by waiving big men Marques Bolden and Jarrell Martin.
Cleveland is reportedly considering bringing in former Golden State Warriors forward Alfonzo McKinnie. The Dubs released the 27-year old to make way for Marquese Chriss, who played for the Cavs in the latter part of the 2018-19 season.
McKinnie has shown that he is a capable defender and knockdown shooter from beyond the arc. He got an opportunity with the Warriors last season in their 2019 playoff run when Kevin Durant went down with his injury.
The Cavs are currently pretty thin at the wing position, with Cedi Osman slated to start at small forward on opening night. The former Warrior can eventually find a role with the team should Cleveland tap him for his services.
According to the report, the Cavs may also look at Ivan Rabb. Rabb, who was recently released by the Memphis Grizzlies, showed some promise in the latter part of the 2018-19 campaign. However, the emergence of rookie big man Brandon Clarke has made him an afterthought in Memphis.
Cleveland is also pretty thin at the frontcourt. Taking a flier on Rabb, who turned 22 in February, could be a logical move for a rebuilding team like the Cavs.
