Whenever video from a controversial or alleged illegal incident is released, you can expect people to have a field day on social media. NBA fans were quick to react after the body cam footage of Cleveland Cavaliers executive Koby Altman’s arrest was made available online. The Cavs president of basketball operations was charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence last Friday night.
Altman plead not guilty on Tuesday. However, there are those who have their doubts after watching some of the events that led up to the arrest. While driving on the highway, he was stopped by a police officer a few minutes before 9 p.m. for an alleged traffic violation. The longtime member of the Cavs front office was then asked to complete multiple sobriety tests, as is evident from the footage released by the Ohio state troopers, via Unanimo Sports’ Mateo Mayorga.
Most notably, Altman seems to struggle in the balance portion, is told to follow specific instructions and then blames the officer for causing him to lose focus. It should be said that he does not raise is voice and was in full cooperation, according to the report. Regardless of his demeanor, some fans were still surprised by Altman’s protests.
Before being arrested by the trooper, the 2016 NBA champion (director of pro personnel) refused a breathalyzer test. The team issued a brief statement shortly after the incident, saying it is waiting to learn more information. Perhaps his video will answer some of the Cavs’ questions on the matter.
Fans will await to see how everything unfolds. After being quickly dismissed in the first-round of the playoffs last season, the franchise will have high expectations going into the 2023-24 campaign. Whatever is to come of Koby Altman’s OVI charge, the organization is going to want a swift resolution.
