LeBron James does not have the word “quit” in his vocabulary and he is a fighter through and through. This is why the recent revelation that The King was actually playing with an injured hand through pretty much the entire NBA Finals did not come as a shock to many.
After Game 4, James himself admitted that he had sustained a hand injury after punching a whiteboard out of frustration in the aftermath of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ heartbreaking Game 1 loss to the Golden State Warriors.
In true LeBron James fashion, he did not use his injury as an excuse despite the fact that it put him at a considerable disadvantage. The bone contusion was on his shooting had which made things even more difficult for James.
Nonetheless, this did not appear to affect his performance as James went out to lead his Cavs in Game 2 with 29 points, nine rebounds, and 13 assists in Game 2. The 33-year-old followed this up with an even more impressive performance in Game 3, scoring 33 points while chipping in 10 rebounds and 11 assists, and showing no ill effects of the injury.
The title-clinching fourth and final game of the series proved to be too much for James as his team was on the losing end of a 23-point blowout as the Warriors secured their third title in four years.
James is not one to make excuses and he still managed to put up an unquestionably valiant effort against a highly-favored Warriors side in their brief Finals matchup.
