The Cleveland Cavaliers will enter Saturday night’s game in Orlando against the Magic as losers in five of their last seven games, including Wednesday night’s 102-88 loss to the Boston Celtics inside TD Garden. There have been some bumps in the Cavs’ proverbial road this season, but LeBron James seems to be OK with their recent slump — for now.
After today’s practice session in Orlando, James was asked to compare the Cavs’ current skid to the one they endured at the beginning of this season. The King says the team was simply different at that time.
“We’re just a different team than then,” James told Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com after Saturday morning’s shoot-around. “We didn’t really know who we were, what we wanted to do at that time. We know who we are now, what we want to do. Sometimes even when you know you still take some bumps along that road. That’s OK. We know what we want to do, we know what we want to accomplish. So, we’re a totally different team now.”
As most fans of the team know, the Cavs have dealt with several injuries this season, but they seem to be on the mend.
Isaiah Thomas made his Cavs debut earlier this week in a bench role, and he’s been given a starting nod for Saturday night’s game against the Magic. James says it’s hard to judge exactly how good the Cavs will be with Thomas back in the lineup, saying: “We still won’t know yet. We still got a long way to go.”
Saturday night’s game is scheduled to tip at 7:00 p.m. EST. Fox Sports Ohio will have live broadcast coverage.
