Isaiah Thomas’ first points with Cavs in 2017-18 NBA season debut
After a career season with the Boston Celtics, Isaiah Thomas was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers as part of the Kyrie Irving trade. Unfortunately, due to a hip injury, Thomas missed the team’s first 36 games, but they were able to go 24-12 led by LeBron James’ historic 15th season.
At the half, Thomas currently has eight points and two assists in 12 minutes. With the 28-year-old reportedly on a 20-22 minutes restriction, he will also not play against the Celtics in the second game of a back-to-back situation.
Following the slow start to the season, the Cavaliers currently have the third-best record in the Eastern Conference. Despite all the new faces and injuries along the way, there is great optimism for Cleveland with Thomas’ return. As the Cavaliers will slowly increase Thomas’ minutes, the ultimate goal is to get relatively healthy and work their way towards making their fourth consecutive NBA Finals appearance.
With Thomas officially back, all eyes are now on Derrick Rose (ankle) and Iman Shumpert (knee) to make their returns.
