Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James is staying realistic (and hopeful) ahead of this season’s trade deadline, according to TNT’s David Aldridge.
Whether or not the Cavs will be able to strike a deal before the Feb. 8 trade deadline remains to be seen. There have been reports indicating that they’ve shown interest in several players, including Sacramento Kings guard George Hill and L.A. Clippers center DeAndre Jordan, but no deals have come to fruition. In fact, those talks seemed to have stalled a bit in recent days.
The Cavs have one of the NBA’s highest salaries and most teams are not interested in the players they’re willing to offer, unless the deal includes Cleveland’s coveted first round pick from the Brooklyn Nets, which seems to be off limits — for now.
This certainly hasn’t been the best season for the Cavs, especially when you take into account the fact that they’ve made the NBA Finals in each of their last three campaigns. They’ve lost eight of their last 12 games, which includes an embarrassing 120-88 defeat at the hands of the Houston Rockets on Saturday night. However, they still have time to right their metaphorical ship, and James is remaining focused on the task at hand.
Cleveland’s first shot at improvement comes on Tuesday night, as they’re scheduled to face the Orlando Magic inside the Amway Center. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. EST with Fox Sports Ohio and Fox Sports Florida having live broadcast coverage.
