Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James went up for a layup right before halftime in Game 3 and came down awkwardly on his ankle. The Cavs forward didn’t leave the game, but it was pretty clear that it was affecting him.
According to Marc Stein, after the game, Brian Windhorst of ESPN was studying how James was walking in an attempt to check if there was any limp. James caught him looking, and called him out on it.
“Looking to see if I’m limping?” James asked Windy with a smile. “Even if I was I wouldn’t show you.”
The ankle injury didn’t look good when it appeared, and for most guys, it might knock them out of the game, but somehow James and his superhuman body doesn’t seem to get hurt.
After Game 3, James played down the ankle injury and assured everyone that he would be back in the lineup on Friday night for Game 4.
In Game 3, James was able to finish the game fighting through the pain and put up the 10th triple-double of his career in the NBA finals. The King finished the game with 33 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds, but these still weren’t enough for the Cavs to secure a victory.
The role players for the Cavs stepped up like they usually do at home, but in the end, it was the Kevin Durant show that was too much. The former Texas Longhorn finished the game with 43 points, 13 rebounds, and 7 assists.
