Unlike most big men today in the NBA, Cleveland Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen is yet to buy into the 3-point basketball revolution. He entered Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers at home with just seven attempts this season from behind the arc and a career 3.6 percent 3-point attempt rate.
That being said, Jarrett Allen finally sank his first triple of the season in the third quarter of the contest, catching both the Clippers and the Cavs by surprise.
After making the 3-pointer, Jarrett Allen made sure to celebrate the rare deep ball, which he waited for a year to show everyone, per Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com.
#Cavs Jarrett Allen said his 3-point celebration — holding the 3 fingers and then using them as an afro pick — has been planned for more than a year. He was pumped to break that one out tonight.
Ivica Zubac, operating on the scouting report that Jarrett Allen rarely takes a 3-pointer, was seen sagging way too far from the Cavs star during that play. No one was expecting Allen to go for it from downtown, but he probably realized what’s there to lose. The Cavs were blowing out the Clippers and his defender was not even remotely close to him. It was the perfect moment to channel his inner-Cedi Osman. Osman, of course, finished the game on a perfect 7-for-7 shooting from deep.
Jarrett Allen finished the game with 15 points and eight rebounds to go with three assists and a pair of steals in 26 minutes of action.
