The Cleveland Cavaliers will close out their five-game road trip with a match-up against the Indiana Pacers on Friday night, but it sounds like they’ll be doing so without the services of Dwyane Wade and Isaiah Thomas.
According to a report from Jason Lloyd of The Athletic, both Thomas and Wade will miss Friday night’s game inside Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Veteran Jose Calderon will get the starting point guard nod.
Thomas has been on a minutes restriction since his return last week. Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue has previously stated that the crafty ball-handler will not play in back-to-back scenarios just yet.
Marla Ridenour of the Akron Beacon Journal adds that Wade has been given a “vet day” for rest.
Thomas, now 28 years of age, has been struggling with accuracy as of late. In his four appearances with the Cavs this season, the former Washington Huskies stand-out has turned n averages of 12.3 points on 35.3 percent shooting from the field (26.1 percent from beyond the arc), 3.3 assists, and 1.3 rebounds.
Wade, 35, has played 38 games for the Cavs this season, averaging 11.1 points on 44.4 percent shooting from the field, 3.8 assists, and 3.8 rebounds.
Friday night’s game is set to tip at 7:00 p.m. EST with Fox Sports Ohio having live broadcast coverage.
