The highly anticipated debut of Isaiah Thomas for the Cleveland Cavaliers will finally happen on Wednesday when they face off against the Portland Trail Blazers. After the much talked about trade that landed the two-time All-Star in Northeast Ohio and some delays to his recovery, his return to action couldn’t come at a better time for the team as they are looking to snap their current three-game losing streak.
Even if the Cavs will be even more difficult to beat on the night, Thomas’ former teammate, Evan Turner, still took to his Twitter account to welcome him back. He even called him “hoop god” and made it known that he is happy that he will be able to play again.
Turner’s tweet goes to show how much respect he has for the 5-foot-9 point guard. The two played together with the Boston Celtics from 2014 to 2016, where they formed a strong bond. They often shared the court as well, as both of them had big roles during their stint there.
The Cavaliers have been struggling to address their point guard depth since the start of the season and now that Thomas is available to suit up, he will definitely bring a lot of stability to that position. His experience and socring prowess will also allow their shooters to get more open looks, and his ability to locate the open man will make it harder for the defense to limit their production.
