Cleveland Charge forward Isaiah Mobley, brother of Cavs “unicorn” forward Evan Mobley, earned a spot in the G League’s All-Showcase team after dominating the NBA G League Winter Showcase, according to multiple sources.
The two-way forward put up 27 points, nine rebounds and three blocks per game for the Cleveland Charge in two games of the G League Winter Showcase, an eight-team, single-elimination tournament with the chance to earn a $100,000 prize in Las Vegas. Mobley joined Memphis Hustle forward Kenneth Lofton Jr., Oklahoma City Blue guard Tre Mann, Fort Wayne Mad Ants guard Terry Taylor and the Showcase Cup tournament MVP in Ontario Clippers guard Brandon Boston Jr.
Mobley scored a game-high 30 points on his way to nearly earning a triple-double last Monday, becoming one of three Cleveland players to earn 30 points or more as the Charge took a 120-104 victory. Though Mobley put up a valiant effort with 24 points and five blocked shots against the Windy City Bulls, the Charge ultimately fell to the Chicago Bulls affiliated team after a game-winning shot from Chicago two-way guard Carlik Jones knocked Cleveland out of the tournament.
Evan Mobley was initially ecstatic to play with his brother Isaiah with the Cleveland Cavaliers after being selected with the 49th pick in the 2022 NBA draft. The two dominated at the college level for the USC Trojans under assistant coach Eric Mobley, earning a 25-8 record and going as far as the Elite Eight before falling to the Jalen Suggs and Drew Timme-led Gonzaga Bulldogs.
“(Evan) was extremely excited,” Isaiah said. “He was literally right here on my right and he was in my face, smiling. We got some pictures of it. It was a great all-around moment.”
The Cavaliers signed Isaiah Mobley to a two-way contract in early July. He played in eight games for the Cavs this season.
