The Cleveland Cavaliers were still able to take care of business on Wednesday even without their stars in the mix. Both Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland sat out their 113-85 win over the Detroit Pistons due to respective injuries, but the Cavs still made quick work of the 14-42 Pistons. Cleveland fans will now be happy to know that both Mitchell and Garland should be back in action on Friday against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland injury status vs. Pelicans
Mitchell sat out Wednesday’s win due to a sore left groin. Garland, on the other hand, was sidelined by a sore right thumb. Both were minor injuries, and it seemed like the Cavs just wanted to give their stars the night off against a struggling Detroit side.
True enough, both Mitchell and Garland have been removed from the injury report for Friday’s game against the Pels. This only means that both stars are going to be in the starting lineup for that contest.
Ricky Rubio and Dylan Windler are still going to be out for the Cavs, but it’s a relatively healthy lineup for Cleveland when they take on New Orleans.
The Pelicans, though, will be without marquee star Zion Williamson, who continues to rehab a right hamstring injury. Devonte’ Graham has also been ruled out following his trade to the Spurs in exchange for Josh Richardson. It remains to be seen if the latter will be able to make his Pelicans debut on Friday against the Cavs.
